In Orebic you can take a car ferry to the island of Korcula and explore this historic island. You can also take a passenger ferry directly to Korcula Old Town, where the architecture has a Venetian influence as this entire area was controlled by Venice for over 400 years. It is also the birth place of Marco Polo and you can visit his ancestral home. Korcula also has many interesting shops and many bars and restaurants on the leafy front part of the old Town.
The dramatic and stunningly beautiful peninsula is often referred to as the granary of the area. Some of the best wines in Croatia are made on the penInsula and Korcula from the locally grown grapes. It is the origin of California’s beloved zinfandel grape was discovered. You can visit the winery of your choice and taste the local wines. Take a drive to The historic old town of Ston and do take a walk on the newly renovated wall which offers stunning views over this walled city and the salt flats.
A trip to Mali (small) Ston is highly recommended and a leisurely lunch with local oysters, which are freshly harvested from the bay, is a perfect way to end your tour of the peninsula as here it joins the mainland.
You can take a passenger boat for a day trip to Dubrovnik or car ferry to the island of Mijet or even a ferry from Korcula to the island of Havar, north of Korcula.
For your more adventurous side there are beautiful walks through the lush country side. Why not visit the monastery above the villa and take in the panoramic views or Jump on a boat and visit the venetian old town of Korcula Island. Sample walking tour.
Located on the Peljesac Peninsula, famous for it’s vast vineyard, oysters and stunning mountain trails (one of which begins right behind the villa) there is plenty to satisfy all tastes. Along with the popular seaside town of Orebic and windsurfers town of Viganj being just a 10 and 20 minute walk along the water respectively.
